BERGERAC

BERGERAC
Residence/Hotel
Bergerac is the largest town in the P{rigord Pourpre d{partement, an area that derives its name from the purple grapes that grow in the region's vineyards. The most famous wines are the sweet whites produced around Monbazillac. Located in the plains of the Dordogne, Bergerac is scattered with remnants from an interesting and often violent past. The town endured much damage as a Protestant stronghold in the 16th century. Much has been done in recent years to restore the older city making Bergerac a good base to explore the area.
