Portugal is one big celebration all year round and invites you to join the dance and go wild to the rhythm of traditional music or relax to the melodious sounds of melancholic fados. It is a place that will never leave you indifferent through its traditional and generous cuisine where food is served with flavoured wines and the hospitality of the Portuguese people which remains unequalled.
Situated in the very south of Portugal, Algarve was the last area to be conquered from the Moors by the king of Portugal in 1292. This Arabian presence, in ancient times, influenced the architecture: white-washed houses, fireplaces with intricate lacy details... In the Spring, this fertile land is very colourful thanks to the blossoming fig, orange and almond trees. Large sandy beaches can be found caught between rocks sculpted by erosion and you can choose from a whole range of water sports: deep sea diving, wind surfing, sailing, water skiing... The area is also famous for its golf courses, its many tennis courts and marinas. Night life is very lively between nightclubs and nightbars.
Gastronomy is the word to use when it comes to food; Algarve is celebrated for its fish and sea food, the well known "Cataplana": cockles, clams and slices of bacon cooked in a special pan.
